June 16-19, 2025 at Lakewood Ranch High School, 8:00AM - 3:00PM | Open to Female Athletes, incoming 9th-12th Grade

About Camp

Are you a teen athlete who dreams of making a difference both on and off the field? The Empowered Athletes: Coaches in Training (CIT) Summer Camp is your opportunity to step into a leadership role, gain real certifications, and build the skills you need to become a future coach and mentor.

Your Questions, Answered.

What is CIT Camp?

Running alongside our popular All-Girls Sports Camp, this immersive program is designed for high school girls who want hands-on experience and leadership training in the world of youth sports coaching. You'll work directly with younger athletes at camp while learning how to lead, motivate, and coach with confidence.

What Certifications will I earn?

Each CIT will complete accredited training one of the following:

  • Heat Illness Prevention

  • Concussion in Sports Awareness

  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest Response

These certifications are nationally recognized and will boost your resume for future coaching, lifeguarding, or childcare roles.

What Will I Learn?

  • Coaching strategies and communication skills

  • How to run fun and effective youth practices

  • Conflict resolution and team-building techniques

  • How to create a positive and inclusive environment for all athletes

What Kinds of Hands On Experience?

CITs will assist in daily camp sessions, shadow experienced coaches, and take the lead in small-group instruction. You’ll grow in confidence as you apply what you learn in real time.

What's a Day at Camp look like?

Here's a peek at an example schedule:

8:00–9:00 AM CIT Training & Workshops 

9:00–9:30 AM Youth Camper Check-In & Free Play – CITs assist with setup, greet campers, and facilitate games​

9:30–11:00 AM Outdoor Sport Session – CITs coach small groups under guidance of lead coaches

11:00–11:30 AM Youth Workshop / CIT Certification & Planning Time – Youth in workshop; CITs complete online certifications or prep drills

11:30–12:00 PM Lunch (All Campers + CITs)​

12:00–1:30 PM Indoor Sports Session – CITs lead skills stations or mini-games

​1:30–2:00 PM Youth Free Play / CIT Strategy & Reflection – Youth supervised; CITs reflect on day and prep for tomorrow​

 

2:00–3:00 PM CIT-Only Workshop or Certification Time – Dedicated coach development session 

What Workshops will we be doing?

  • Injury Prevention & Safety Basics

  • Communicating like a Coach

  • Designing a Practice

  • Leadership Traits & Coaching Styles

  • Commanding the Field

  • Self-Reflection & Adjustment

  • Researching My Field

Do I need to be an expert in every sport?

No! Part of being a good coach is being flexible and knowledgable about athletics, in general. Coaching at the All Girls Sports Camp will give you general knowledge in the following sports: soccer, volleyball, lacrosse, basketball, track & field, flag football, and intro to weightlifting. The coaching principles you will learn is applicable to any and all sports. You will also have the opportunity to further research coaching credentials and opportunities in your main sport focus.

Coach Richardson is the Head Varsity Girls Soccer Coach at Lakewood Ranch High School with over a decade of experience in youth sports leadership. With a deep commitment to mentoring the next generation of female leaders, Coach Richardson brings passion, expertise, and a strong belief that coaching is for girls too.
